Red Pool Filter
I went out to clean my pool pump’s filter cartridge this afternoon and it was covered in a kind of red slime. I am used to it being grey- this is totally abnormal. The pool is vinyl and shows no sign in the water of actual algae growth- the water is blue and clear although it does need to be vacuumed. It has not been swam in for at least two weeks but there has been a LOT of rain in the afternoons. I am not sure what my first step should be as this is our first year owning a pool. Should I shock it? Should I be freaking out? What I did do was fill a bucket with bleach and let the cartridge sit in the bleach for a while. I then scrubbed it and dunked it in more bleach and then rinsed it and put it back in the pump and let the pump keep running. Also do I need to trash this cartridge?
