Pool Cleaning Business Advice
I have been looking into buying a small pool route of 5 clients with the hammer head vacuum and equipment for 00. The clients are billed about /month.
Can anyone offer advice on the pros and cons of this type of business?
Thanks

Do you have the potential to pick up more clients? With only 5 clients it will take a about 2 years to break even. You will have insurance and transportation expenses. I wouldn’t do it unless I thought I could find at least 3 more clients. 10 more clients would be better. I don’t know the average rates for pool cleaning but $80/month sounds too low. I am guessing you will be cleaning each pool once a week. $35-50 per cleaning doesn’t sound unreasonable to me.
Well let’s see….5 clients at $80 a month is $400 a month. Typical pool season is about 4 to 6 months depending on how hot it is where you live. So that is about $2000 a year.
So you will be operating in the red for the first year. Possibly making a profit in the second season/year.
You also need to know what the $80 includes. Does it include necessary chemicals and maintenance items. Or will you get $80 and the pool owner supplies the chemicals. I have a pool and sometimes my pool chemicals total about 30 to 40 a month. That will eat your profit margin if it comes out of the $80.
Overall, I think it is a good deal. Especially if you are on the younger side of life (16-23). A Hammerhead Vacuum alone costs $1650. If that comes with equipment and clients to help pay for it, then that’s a bonus.
don’t forget about insurance.
what state and city is that located in that sure is a low price, that is what i do for a living
