Pool Experts
To cut back, we are trying to clean our own pool this summer. Our pool cleaner is a Polaris 380 about 8 years old. We have had the belts replaced, and just about everything rebuilt. It just moves soooo slow and sometimes just stops or gets stuck in the corner. It is almost easier and faster to just vacuum the pool ourselves. Is it possible that we can buy a booster to hook up to it to make it move faster and clean better? We are still learning about all this stuff.

A booster pump installed in pools, does one of two things.
1/ If this pool has a dedicated line for a Polaris Vac Sweep. They rely on a separate booster pump to run the cleaner.
2/This is a swim jet pool. Doubtful, given the volume you describe. Booster pumps in this type of pool create a jet of water that you swim against. Again, not likely in your case, there being over 24,000 gallons, as a swim jet pool is normally 1/10 th the volume.
You may be confusing the term "booster pump" with filter pump. All pools have a filter pump of some sort. They are also sometimes called circulation or circ pumps. The job of this type of pump is to take water from a suction source (skimmer) and put it through the filter and any other equipment, such as heaters or sanitizer dispensers and then return that filtered, sanitized water back to the pool.

They could have information regarding your problem and a fix.
According to it your cleaner has a separate pump to motivate the cleaner. You could be having a problem with the cleaner pump, check the basket or line could be blocked. Also check the pump impeller for debris, hair and the like.
Using a manual vacuum is the fastest way to clean your pool.
